Turn on the equipment you wish to program. (TV, VCR, or AUX)
Press and hold the appropriate device key (TV, VCR, AUX*) for three seconds until all device keys begin to flash. Release the key. The selected device key will continue to flash
Enter the three digit code using the number keys. After you press the first digit, the device key should light and stay on. After you press the last digit, the device key should flash three times and turn off.

*If you are programming the AUX key, an additional step if needed:
Press and hold the [AUX] key until all four device keys begin to flash. Release the AUX key. The AUX key will continue to flash

VCR - for an additional VCR, DVD player, TV/DVD combo, TV/VCR combo, or PVR
AUX For audio receiver/ amplifier codes
Use the three digit code above as noted
** Emerson, Sharp, and Sylvania TV/DVD combos require that the TV and DVD sections of the unit be programmed separately
Point the remote at the device and press POWER. If the device turns on or off, you have finished programming the device
Press [TV] ( or [VCR]) again. The device LED will blink twice to confirm that the code has been stored
Please Note:
Try all the functions on the remote control. If any of the functions do not work as they should, repeat from Step 2 using the next three-digit code number from the same brand list.
SMART SCAN Automatic Programming
The Smart Scan automatic programming method will allow you to cycle through all the available codes in the remote until you find the right code for a device.
Manually turn on power to the device you want to program the remote for
For TV and VCR modes, press and hold the appropriate device key for three seconds until all device keys begin to flash
Release the key then press and release [POWER]. The device key will stop flashing and stay on. Proceed to Step 4 to perform Smart Scan
For AUX mode, press and hold the [AUX]key for three seconds until the [AUX] key begins to flash. Release the key. Then press the TV, VCR, or AUX device key, depending on which device you want to assign to the [AUX]key. The [AUX]key will stop flashing and stay on. Press and release the POWER key. Proceed to Step 3 to perform the Smart Scan
Point the remote control at the device. Repeatedly press and release (or press and hold) the ▲ key until the device turns off. If holding the ▲ or ▼ key, the remote will send a code approximately once every second. If pressing keys repeatedly, one code is sent each time the key is pressed. If you accidentally press the ▲ key after the device has turned off, press the ▼ key to return to the previous device code
While performing Smart Scan, you can pause to test other device functions using the remote control. If primary functions do not work, resume Smart Scan by pressing the ▲,▼ keys to find another code that turns off the device. Then test the functions again
When you are satisfied that all primary functions are working, press [SELECT] to lock in the code. The device key will then flash three times
NOTE: When scanning for DVD players, PVRs, TV/VCR combos, and TV/DVD player combos, use the Smart Scan procedure with the VCR device key
Code Number Readback
Perform the following steps to read the code currently set for a device. This is useful for retrieving a device code that was set using the Smart Scan procedure above
Press and hold a device key until the four device keys flash twice. Release the key. The selected device key will continue to flash
Press and release [SELECT]. The device key flashes each of the three digits in the code. A pause separates each digit. For example, three flashes represent the number 3, and a rapid flicker represents 0. A code of 103 will be shown as:
FLASH <pause> FLICKER <pause> FLASH, FLASH, FLASH
Count and record the sequence of flashes to determine the three-digit code
Master Power Control
The Master Power function allows you to turn off and on two or more devices simultaneously with a single press of the power button. Follow these steps to program the Master Power function
Press and hold the CBL device key until all the device keys begin to flash. Release the CBL key. The CBL key will continue to flash
Press and release the POWER key
One at a time, and in the order you want, press and release the device key(s) you wish to be controlled by Master Power ([CBL], [TV], [VCR], [AUX])
NOTE: If no keys are pressed in this step, no change will occur in Master Power programming
Press and release [POWER]. The device keys should flash and turn off
Manually turn on all devices. Then test the Master Power control by pressing [ POWER]
To disable Master Power, select only one device for Master Power (any device can be selected). The remote will now control the power ON/OFF of each device separately
NOTE: Once Master Power has been programmed for two or more devices, pressing [ POWER] in normal operation will cause the remote to transmit the POWER on/off commands for those devices selected during Master Power programming, UNLESS you do the following: To transmit a POWER on/off command for a device NOT included in the Master Power selection, press the DEVICE key for that device immediately (within five seconds) before pressing the POWER key.
Volume Control
By default, your remote controls volume individually through each device selected. AUX is initially an audio device operating its own volume and mute. To set volume through a different device, follow these steps:
Press and hold [CBL] until all the device keys begin to flash. Release the [CBL] key. [CBL] will continue to flash
Press and release [VOL▲] then [VOL▼]. The device key will stop flashing and remain on. Press and release the [TV], [CBL], [VCR], or [AUX] key corresponding to the device you wish to control volume. After you release the key, [CBL] will flash three times and turn off
NOTE:
Only select the [VCR] key if you have a TV/VCR combo or TV/DVD combo programmed under the VCR device mode
If a device is selected that does not have volume control, the programming cancels and does not flash a confirmation sequence
To return volume control to the default state (where the volume keys can control volume for each device):
Press [CBL] until all the device keys begin to flash. Release [CBL]. [CBL] will continue to flash
Press and release [VOL▲]. [CBL] will stop flashing and stay on. Press and release [VOL▲], and then [SELECT]. After you release [ SELECT], [CBL] will flash three times and turn off.
Channel Lock
Channel controls are factory-programmed to automatically transfer to the respective Device mode you select, as follows:
CBL : CBL TV : CBL DVD : DVD AUX: AUX
To deactivate Channel Lock, follow these steps
Press and hold [CBL] until all the device keys begin to flash. Release [CBL]. [CBL] will continue to flash
Press and release [CH▲], then [CH▼], and finally [ SELECT]. [CBL] will flash three times to confirm the procedure
