Voice Mail Overview
-
- Store up to 20 messages, each two minutes in length
- A stutter dial tone indicates a message is waiting; a message light flashes if your phone has this capability
- New messages are saved for 30 days; if a message is listened to and saved every 29 days, it can be saved indefinitely
- If a message is not saved within 30 days, the message is deleted and moved to a Trash folder for 14 days
- Messages in the Trash folder are accessible for 14 days, unless the message is restored or permanently deleted
Important: contact customer service for assistance to reset a Voice Mail PIN or if your Voice Mail is disabled

Voice Mail First Time Setup
- Dial *98 to start the Voice Mail tutorial
- Create a new PIN that is 6 to 20 digits by following these guidelines
- Can't have more than 2 repeating digits (110022 is okay; 111000 is not)
- Can't match any part of the phone number (first 6 digits, last 6 digits, etc.)
- Can't be a sequence of numbers (12345, 54321)
- Can't be the same digit (111111, 999999)
- Record a Name Announcement
- Record a Personal Greeting or select Standard Greeting options

Access Voice Mail from Home
- Dial *98, enter the PIN then press # and follow the prompts for next steps
Access Voice Mail Away from Home
- Dial the home phone number then press * (star key)
- During the greeting, enter the PIN then press # and follow the prompts for next steps
Note: you can also access Voice Mail away from home using a Local Access Number; see below

- From the Main Menu, press 4
- Press 3 for Security Options
- Press 1 to change PIN
- Enter a new PIN then press #
Change Greeting or Name
- From the Main Menu, press 3
- Press 1 to set up or change the Greeting or Name
- Press 3 and follow the prompts

Dial the Home Phone number or the access number for your area
- Press the * (star) key during the recorded greeting
- At the prompt, enter the PIN and press #, then follow the prompt

Manage Voice Mail Messages

While listening to a message, follow the steps below to manage Voice Mail messages
- Save a Message: press 2
- Fast Forward 5 Seconds: press 99
- Rewind 5 Seconds: press 77
- Keep Current Message, Skip to Next: press #
- Delete Message: press 3
- Helpful Hints: press 0

Permanently Delete a Message
- Deleted messages are moves to the Deleted Message folder
- If the Deleted Messaged folder is not emptied, the Mail Box may say it's full even when there are no new messages
- To clear Deleted Messages, select option 6 to play deleted messages
- Then, press 3 to permanently delete messages

Answering Machine / Fax Machine Compatibility

Using Voice Mail with an Answering Machine
- Choose to stop using an answering machine or set the answering machine to pick up after 6 or more rings
- Setting to 6 or more rings allows Voice Mail to pick up before the answering machine
Using Voice Mail with a Fax Machine
- Some fax machines can work with Voice Mail; check your manual for instructions
- Voice Mail is set to answer after 4 rings and can be changed as requested
- If changing the ring cycle does not resolve the issue, adding Distinctive Ring to your phone line may help

Resolve Voice Mail Box Full

Dial *98 to access Voice Mail from Home

Once you hear the Voice Mail full message, immediately hit the * (star) key twice

Enter the PIN and delete Voice Mail messages as needed

Stuttered Dial Tone / Message Waiting not Working

When a message is waiting, you hear a stuttered dial tone when you pick up the phone to dial
