SAP Overview
-
- Secondary Audio Program (SAP) is an alternative audio track for the visually impaired or a foreign language track
- SAP tracks conform to a different broadcast standard than the multiple language tracks that are included with some programs
- Use the steps below to change settings based on your User Interface
- Click here if you are unsure of the User Interface on your TV

IPTV Boxes

- TiVo Home | arrow left to Menu | Settings | Audio Settings | Language & Audio Description (see steps)
- Choose the preferred language for audio tracks
TiVo Boxes

4 Tuners, 2 Tuners, Single Tuners, and Minis on TiVo Experience 3
- TiVo Central | Settings & Messages | Settings | Audio | Alternate Audio (see steps)
- Highlight Default Audio Language and press Select
- If a program does not have an audio track in the selected language, TIVo records the default audio track (which may be the only audio track) for the broadcast
- This change only affects future recordings and live TV; it does affect previously-recorded programs
4K 6 Tuners, 6 Tuners , 4K Minis, and Minis on TiVo Experience 4
- TiVo Home | arrow left to Menu | Settings | Audio & Video Settings (see steps)
- Highlight Default Audio Language and press Select
- If a program does not have an audio track in the selected language, TIVo records the default audio track (which may be the only audio track) for the broadcast

- Press Menu twice and select Setup (usually on second screen)
- Select Audio Setup
- Select Default Audio Track, and use the ◄, ► keys to select Channel Default
- Other options include: English, Español, Français, and Português
- Press Exit when finished
Passport Boxes

- Press MENU twice to get to the General Settings screen
- Use arrow keys to select Language
- Scroll to and select Audio
- If Spanish has a bullet to the left of it, the guide's audio is set to it's secondary audio, SAP
- English is not always the primary language on a channel
- Example: MTV Español broadcasts primarily in Spanish; English is broadcast as a secondary language
- Choose English to play in Spanish

Primary Method
- Press Menu and select Settings
Alternate method
- Press the A button on the your remote to toggle between SAP and Primary audio (See Equipment and Remotes for more info)
- Select Audio Language
- Scroll to select the desired Audio Language English Audio or Spanish Audio
- A * next to one of these selections means that is what the box is set to
Cisco DTAs

- Press Menu
- Press CH▼ two times to highlight Language and press Enter
- Press ► twice to move to Audio and choose English
- Press Menu to exit
Standard TV Menus

Check TV remote for SAP or MTS button
- Press the SAP/MTS button once
- If audio does not return, press it again
Check TV remote for a Menu or Settings button or on the front or side of the TV
- Press Menu button (a menu should display on screen)
- Identify Audio or Sound option on the TV menu
- Then, either select MONO, MAIN, or STEREO
