Programming Your Device
Turn on your Device
Press [SEL/OK], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the device buttons (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, CBL) start blinking in sequence
From the Setup Code list below, locate and enter the 3-digit code for your device brand. If multiple codes are listed, you may have to enter several 3-digit codes until your DEVICE turns off
If you cannot find your code, you can use Point and Press Programming
Press [MUTE]
If your device turns back on, press [SEL/OK] to lock in the code
The device buttons (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, CBL) will blink 3 times and go out
Use your device key (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV) to power the device back on
If your device does not turn back on, repeat steps using a different setup code
Try specific commands for your device, like:
TV - [VOL UP], [VOL DOWN] and [MUTE]
VCR - Put a tape in and try [PLAY], [REWIND] and [FFWD]
DVD Player - Put a DVD in and try [PLAY], [Pause] and [FFWD]
Audio Device - [VOL UP], [VOL DOWN] and [MUTE]
If your device does not work for specific commands, repeat steps using a different setup code

Point and Press Programming
Turn on your Device
Press [SEL/OK], then [MUTE] together - hold both buttons down until the mode (power) buttons start blinking in sequence
Press and hold the [CH +] button until the TV turns off
Every time the device buttons (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, CBL) light in a sequence (see animation below), the remote is trying a different code
It may take seconds or several minutes for the remote to find the proper code for your device. Please be patient, and be ready to release the [CH +] button when the device turns off:
Additionally, other devices may turn on and off during this process. This is fine, just wait for the device you are programming to power off
Press [MUTE]. If your device turns back on, press [SEL/OK] to lock in the code
The device buttons (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, CBL) will blink 3 times and go out
If your device does not run back on, try pressing [CH -] one step at a time until that device turns back on. Each time you press the [CH -] button, the power/mode buttons will start blinking in reverse sequence:
Once you have found the proper code, press [SEL/OK] to lock in the code.
Code Number Readback
To identify the 3-digit setup code for your device, follow these steps:
Press the target device button (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, CBL), then [SEL/OK] - hold both down until the device button lights up (under your finger)
Press [INFO]
The illuminated button will “blink back” the code number, with a 1-second interval between each digit of the code
For the number "0" as the device button (AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, CBL) all quickly blink
For example, if the remote is reading back your TV code 2-0-3:
[TV], [TV]
(one second pause)
[AUD, DVD, VCR, TV, and CBL] blink several times
(one second pause)
[TV], [TV], [TV]
Button Functions (in Cable Mode)
Illuminates selected electronic device being operated, in this case the [CBL] button.
Turns your converter and TV on/off with just one button press. Can also be programmed to turn off/on other electronic devices, or automatically set to correct your correct TV output channel.
Allows you to jump to the desired channel on the converter.
Displays on-screen features, options.
Displays on-screen listing of programs by date, time, channel.
Displays channel, time information. Press TWICE to browse channels
Shows previous / next day in view guide.
Navigates on-screen menus, program guide, PPV events and interactive services.

Selects Music Choice™ digital music through your converter. NOTE: Only works with NON-DVR converters, otherwise, non-functional.

When in the interactive guide, choose "Favorite channels" from the on-screen menu. Pressing the blue FAV button on a selected channel will add it to your list of favorite channels.
When out of the interactive guide, pressing FAV will scroll through your list of favorite channels that you stored through the interactive guide.

Programming Volume Control
By default, your volume/mute is controlled through your TV unless you are controlling an audio device
To control volume/mute through your converter in the remote's CABLE mode
Press [SEL/OK], then [CBL] together - hold both down until the [CBL] button lights up (under your finger)
Press [VOL ], then [CBL]
The [CBL] button will blink and go out.
To control volume/mute back through your TV in the remote's CABLE mode
Press [SEL/OK], then [CBL] together - hold both down until the [CBL] button lights up (under your finger)

VIDEO SOURCE button
In the remote's TV mode, the button can change the input source of the TV (Input 1, Input 2, Aux, Game, Video 1, Video 2, HDMI, Comp, etc)
To program [VIDEO SOURCE] to operate the TV input in your remote's CABLE mode, follow these steps:
Press [VIDEO SOURCE], then [SEL/OK] together until the [CBL] button lights up
Press [TV]. The [CBL] button will blink 3 times and go out
Installing / Replacing Batteries
Install two (2) "AA" batteries as indicated by the diagram in the battery compartment. Be careful to properly match the "+ / -" ends of the batteries with the diagram in the battery compartment.
When the batteries become too weak to operate the remote control properly, the mode keys will become dim or not illuminate at all during use. When this happens, install 2 new "AA" size batteries.
Your remote control has Memory Guard®, which eliminates reprogramming after battery changes.
General Reset
The remote can be reset to its factory default settings if needed
Press [SEL/OK], then [CBL] together until the [CBL] button lights up (under your finger)
Press [1]
The [CBL] button will blink 3 times and go out. All codes will now be CLEARED. Start programming your Synergy® V over again, as needed
