Pair Your TiVo Remote Error Screen

If you see a screen that reads Pair Your TiVo Remote, please follow this link, instead of using the steps below​​​ 

  • This screen may be seen after an IPTV update, and the steps to resolved are slightly different from those below
 

About Your Remote Control

  • This remote runs on BlueTooth technology and works through walls and even around corners
  • If the remote only works in direct sight of the box, and voice commands don't work, the remote is not paired
  • The remote is normally paired with your TiVo Android TV device during initial setup
  • Only one remote is paired with one IPTV box at a time

  • Your TiVo S6A Remote supports voice control using Google Assistant

  • Press the Google Assistant button on your remote to search what’s on now, change channels, record a show, open apps, and more

  • Your TiVo S6A Remote needs to be paired to the TiVo Android TV device for this to work

Remote Control Pairing Instructions

  1. Press and hold TiVo; then, while holding down TiVo, press Back

  2. Hold both for approximately 3 seconds, until the activity indicator lights up red and stays on
     
  3. Press VOLUME DOWN 3 times and then press and release the OK button
     
  4. The activity indicator flashes red 3 times, indicating that the remote is now reset and not paired

Important: if replacing the original remote, remove its batteries now to prevent it from re-pairing

  1. Hold the remote control between 2 and 3 feet from the IPTV box

  2. A screen that searches for Bluetooth devices pops up; press the TiVo button if you don't see the screen

  3. The remote indicator light starts flashing amber, indicating communication with the IPTV box

  4. The IPTV box should automatically pair the remote

 

Trouble Pairing?

  • Reboot the IPTV box using the reset button found under the equipment
  • You can use a paper clip to reach the button, if needed
  • If the remote is still not paired, repeat the steps above

The TiVo S6A Remote works with the IPTV box to automatically configure TV and AV devices.

 

Helpful Tips for Controlling Devices

  • Point the remote at the device when using it, making sure that there is a clear line of sight

  • The Activity light on the remote should blink with each keypress
  • If the lights does not blink, try replacing the batteries
     
Program a Device Manually:  
  1. From TiVo Home | left arrow to Menu | Settings | Remote Settings
  2. Select Remote Control Programming
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair each device

Voice Control Does Not Work  
  • Your TiVo S6A Remote needs to be paired to the TiVo Android TV device for this to work
  • See Pairing the Remote to The TiVo Android TV device

 

TV Displaying Input Banner with Wrong Button Press  
  • Certain TVs respond to discrete commands differently
  • In some cases, disabling the CEC feature helps prevent the Input Banner from displaying
  • Check the One-Touch button setup in the Remotes and Accessories menu
  • Ensure the IR One-Touch is set to OFF

 

TV or AV Device Doesn't Respond to Remote
  • See Configuring TV and AV devices for instructions
  • Be sure to have a clear line of sight from the remote to the device
  • Signals to the TV are IR and will not work through walls, around corners, etc
