i or p refers to the scanning technology
- i = Interlaced scanning technology; it scans and refreshes even and odd lines separately
- Produces very sharp pictures in general when the image is still or has little motion
- p = Progressive scanning technology (newer); scans and refreshes all lines at the same time
- Progressive scanning produces smoother motion with less blurring
- Perfect for high action movies and sports
