Sun Outages and Reception

Sun Outage Overview

  • Sun Outages may cause an interruption in service when the sun passes directly behind satellites that transmit cable signals

  • This may cause signal loss, channel pixelation, a black screen, or a frozen picture

  • Sun Outages happen between late February and early March and late September and early October each year, around the time of the Spring and Fall Equinoxes

  • Affects are are typically seen between 10:30 am and 5:30 pm, and last anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes
  • Time and duration vary from channel to channel
