HD Quality Differences
- There are a few reasons HD quality may differ between channels, or even shows on the same channel
- Programming is broadcast with different resolution and refresh rates - 720p, 1080i or 1080p
- Some channels down convert picture when switching over to advertisements; not all HD programs are filmed with an HD camera
- Older programs are enhanced for HD TVs; this programming pre-dates HD technology
- Some scenes within a program may not be filmed in HD, due to actor contracts or production costs
- HD channels don't broadcast in HD 24 hours a day, due to production costs
